Frequently Asked Questions
What type of appointment should I book?
We offer routine, same day and after hours clinic appointments.
– Routine appointments include visits for chronic disease management , preventative care and non urgent concerns.
– Same day/next day – these appointments are available with your own doctor for sudden or
urgent medical concerns.
– After hours clinic appointments are available to rostered patients for urgent medical concerns. You will be offered an appointment with the on call physician.
We expect patients to use our same day, evening and weekend appointments for their unexpected health care needs. Use of outside Walk in Clinics is strongly discouraged.
What is the After Hours Clinic?
The After Hour Clinic is available to our rostered patients
for urgent medical concerns. You will be booked with the on call physician.
After Hour Clinic hours: Monday – Thursday 5pm – 7:30pm.
Appointments can be booked by calling the office the day an appointment is required
Saturday – Sunday 9am -12pm.
Appointments can be booked by calling the office or booking on-line the day an appointment
is required.
Service fees
OHIP does not cover the cost of all primary care services. Patients will be
charged directly for these uninsured services.
How can I book an appointment?
Routine and same day appointments can be booked on
line using your health card or by calling the office at 905-685-6555 during our
hours of operation.
Prescription renewals
Many regular prescriptions can be renewed without an
appointment. Contact your pharmacy directly to request your medication renewal. Do not
call the office as you will be directed to contact your pharmacy. Most pharmacy requests are
completed within 48 hours however we do ask for 5 working days to ensure you do not run
short of medications.
Referrals
If you are referred to a specialist you will be contacted directly by the specialist’s
office with the time and date of the appointment. As per Ontario standards, the specialist
physician has 4 weeks to accept or reject the referral. Please refrain from contacting our
office prior to the 4 week mark.
Abusive Behaviour Policy
If a patient or their family member acts in a manner that is abusive, disrespectful,
threatening, or harassing towards any member of our health care team, that patient
will be discharged from the practice. We appreciate that everyone has struggles and
bad days. However, we cannot permit misdirecting frustrations towards the people
trying to provide support.
Immunizations
Baby vaccines will be offered during scheduled well baby appointments.
Adult /teen vaccinations/catch up vaccinations are available via booked routine
appointments.
Teaching Centre
Our doctors are proud to be part of the faculty at McMaster Michael De Groote School of Medicine. You may meet medical learners in our clinic during their training.
We encourage you to be part of their training process.
Travel medicine
Our team is happy to provide travel medicine consultations and
vaccinations . A fee will be charged
What should I do if I think I have a UTI?
If you think you have a urinary tract infection you
are encouraged to book a same day or after hours clinic appointment.
